National Day 2026 Celebration At Dataran Putrajaya To Proceed As Usual – Fahmi

PUTRAJAYA: The 2026 National Day celebration at Dataran Putrajaya on August 31 will, for now, proceed as usual, said Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil.

The Chairman of the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) Main Committee said the decision was made during a special meeting with several agencies yesterday following the current hazy conditions at the venue.

“We have decided that if the situation (haze) remains as it was this morning and yesterday, we will proceed with the event on Monday (August 31),” he said at a press conference after the full rehearsal for the 2026 National Day celebration, as well as meeting the parade personnel at Dataran Putrajaya, here.

Fahmi said they would make real-time assessments regarding the haze situation, including the need to carry out related measures such as cloud seeding by the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA).

“(Cloud seeding) will depend on whether there are clouds that can be seeded. So the assessment from NADMA will be communicated to the committee.

“We hope that cloud seeding can be conducted today and tomorrow, but everything is subject to the views and findings of the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia),” he said.

He said they expect more than 80,000 visitors this time, due to the school holidays as well as the transport facilities provided by the organisers.

“This year, Prasarana Malaysia Bhd is providing 24-hour MRT transport facilities, so many people want to come, and it will make it easier for them to attend.

“We also have transport modes such as buses provided from the MRT stations to the site, as well as water taxis. So many of these facilities have been provided and we believe many will attend,” he said.

Under the theme “Malaysia MADANI: Well-being Enjoyed”, the 69th National Day celebration will be held at Dataran Putrajaya with an expected crowd of over 80,000 visitors to enliven that historic day.
