The flood disaster currently affecting the country has resulted in the freezing of leave for all Cabinet members.
The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, issued an order for all ministers and deputy ministers to visit the disaster areas.
We request that all ministers immediately resume their responsibilities and head to the field. He informed reporters that after leading Friday prayers with over 500 worshipers at Surau Pudina, Precinct 17, in this location today, he has suspended his leave.
Asked whether the leave of Cabinet members would be frozen during the flood disaster that is presently affecting the country, he responded in this manner.
Kelantan has recorded the maximum number of flood victims, with 59,232 individuals evacuated to 221 temporary evacuation centers (PPS) as of this morning. This stands in stark contrast to the 50,947 individuals evacuated to 207 PPS last night due to the continuous rain across multiple states.
In Terengganu, as of 8 a.m. this morning, 20,911 victims from 5,916 families were seeking refuge in 232 PPS, a decrease from 17,762 individuals yesterday.
The flooding has also impacted Kedah, Perlis, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, and Selangor.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning about the possibility of continuous rainfall in eight states, including Kelantan, Terengganu, Perak, Pahang, Perlis, Kedah, Penang, and Johor, until tomorrow.
