DBKL ordered to expedite slope assessment at Taman Bunga Raya, says Zaliha
KUALA LUMPUR: The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), Dr. Zaliha Mustafa, has instructed the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and relevant parties to expedite the assessment of the slope at Taman Bunga Raya, Jalan Genting Klang, near Wardieburn Camp.
She stated that the slope in the area should be assessed so that the affected residents can return to their homes if the slope is found to be safe.
“May the affected individuals remain strong and resilient in facing this challenge,” she said on Facebook.
Earlier, Zaliha mentioned that she had visited the landslide incident area at Taman Bunga Raya and stopped by the Temporary Evacuation Center (PPS) to assist the two families still housed there.
She noted that several other families had left the PPS and were staying with relatives.
“Some of them are also renting temporary accommodations,” she said.
Zaliha also mentioned that she had provided a small amount of cash assistance to the two families.
She added that they had also received food aid and counseling sessions from the Department of Social Welfare (JKM).
Media reports indicate that the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) stated that part of the retaining wall at Taman Bunga Raya collapsed around 5:40 PM yesterday, affecting a house; however, no casualties were reported.
