Hosted by Datuk Aznil Nawawi and Sherry Alhadad, ASA2026 adopted a Broadway-style musical theatre concept, delivering a distinctive, high-impact production combining theatrical elements, energetic dance performances and live music by the RTM Orchestra to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Malaysian Broadcasting Department.

The 37th edition of ASA, themed “Segalanya Bermula Di Sini” (Everything Begins Here), received 1,106 entries in the television category, followed by radio with 421 entries and new media with 74 entries.

The ceremony was broadcast live on RTM TV2 and the Communications Ministry’s official Facebook and YouTube platforms.

The awards featured 40 television categories, 17 radio categories and three new media categories, alongside two special categories — the Special Jury Award and the Tokoh Seri Angkasa Award.

ASA, previously known as the RTM Awards, was introduced by the Ministry of Information in 1972 to recognise individuals involved in producing radio and television programmes for Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM).

The awards are a government initiative aimed at elevating Malaysia’s broadcasting creative industry and recognising the contributions of industry professionals, including behind-the-scenes personnel such as production and broadcast crews, producers, designers, announcers, presenters and technical staff.
