SERI KEMBANGAN — A total of 200 recipients, particularly youths as well as e-hailing and p-hailing drivers, benefited from the Jom Shopping Aidilfitri Vouchers Presentation Ceremony 2026 held at NSK 3 Elements here on Sunday.
The vouchers were presented by Abbas Azmi, the state assemblyman for Seri Serdang.
According to Abbas, recipients were selected based on specific eligibility criteria, including those who are not receiving other forms of assistance such as entrepreneur schemes or existing aid programmes, while income levels were also considered to ensure the support reaches those who genuinely need it.
He said this year’s programme introduced a special focus on youths aged between 18 and 40, including those working as e-hailing and p-hailing drivers who were previously seen as receiving less attention under similar assistance initiatives.

“From the overall allocation of about RM800, around RM50 is allocated per voucher for youths, particularly those working in the e-hailing and p-hailing sector. Alhamdulillah, when applications were opened, the response from this group was very encouraging,” he said after the ceremony.
Abbas explained that about 50 per cent of the total vouchers distributed — approximately 400 vouchers — were allocated to youths to help them prepare for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
During the same event, special contributions were also presented to 20 recipients from the Pekawanis group, with each family receiving RM150 in cash assistance.
Abbas said the festive voucher distribution programme is an annual initiative by the Selangor state government, implemented in conjunction with three major celebrations: Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year and Deepavali.
“The programme for Chinese New Year has already been completed earlier with around 500 vouchers distributed, of which 50 per cent were also given to youths. Today we continue with the Aidilfitri celebration,” he said.
He also revealed that between 150 and 200 e-hailing and p-hailing drivers had their applications approved to receive the vouchers.
According to Abbas, the initiative is also aimed at narrowing the gap between youths and state government initiatives so that they become more aware of the various assistance programmes available.
On local development issues, Abbas said traffic congestion remains a major concern in Seri Serdang, particularly in the densely populated Equine Park area.

He said the government has approved an allocation of RM22 million for the construction of a road connecting “missing link” project to improve traffic flow in the area.
In addition, two flyover projects in front of Giant along Persiaran Arif have also been approved under the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (RMK‑12), with an estimated cost of nearly RM300 million.
“With these two projects, I am confident that traffic issues in this area can be reduced for at least the next 15 years,” he said.
At the same time, Abbas said attention is also being given to the development of sports facilities and public infrastructure in Seri Serdang, including upgrading open badminton courts into pickleball courts, which are increasingly popular among youths.
Several public halls, including one in Kampung Seri Aman, have also been upgraded to support the sport as part of efforts to encourage a healthier lifestyle among the community, particularly the younger generation.
