AI education hub aims for 3,000 Participants, says Chang Lih Kang
KUALA LUMPUR: The Penang Artificial Intelligence (AI) Education Hub is poised to prepare the nation’s talent for driving AI technology development, positioning Malaysia as a leading AI hub in the region.
According to Bernama, Chang Lih Kang, the Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, stated that the ministry aims to involve 3,000 participants with the AI education hub by 2025.
He emphasized that it is the responsibility of MOSTI to support the transformation harnessing the power of AI by ensuring sufficient expertise in the field to meet the growing demand in the job market.
“With rapid technological advancements, it is crucial to equip our younger generation with the necessary knowledge and skills. Hence, this education hub plays a vital role as a catalyst for the development of local talent.
“With the facilities provided at this hub, including the Artificial Intelligence Trainer, learning kits like CocoPi, Quarky, and EDU PICO AI Kit, as well as AI equipment such as Intel Geti AI, I am confident that we can deliver high-quality education and training to students and educators,” he said.
He made these remarks while officiating the Penang AI Education Hub at Tech Dome Penang, Komtar, today, which was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo.
Chang noted that the establishment of this hub aligns with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s call for talent development to leverage the rapid growth of AI technology and drive the nation’s economic progress.
He added that the AI technology revolution is expected to transform business practices, government administration, and community development.
Therefore, Chang hopes that the AI education hub model in Penang can be expanded to other states in Malaysia.
The Penang AI Education Hub is a collaboration between MOSTI and the Penang state government, supported by 13 prominent organizations forming the AI Education Consortium, with Intel serving as the Technical Advisor for the hub.
