PUTRAJAYA, 23 July (Voice of Malaysia): Malaysia’s top professionals were honored and challenged to lead the nation’s future at the 52nd Annual Dinner of the Malaysia Professional Centre (Balai Ikhtisas Malaysia, BIM), held at Le Meridien Putrajaya.
Gracing the prestigious event, Deputy Minister of Works YB Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan delivered a keynote address that celebrated the vital role of over 220,000 professionals in Malaysia’s journey of national renewal. He praised their contribution to economic resilience and issued a call to action for innovation, mentorship, and transformation.
“You are the architects of Malaysia’s future,” he declared. “This gathering represents the intellectual engine of our national progress.”
The Millennium Ballroom welcomed leaders from 23 professional disciplines—spanning engineering, architecture, healthcare, agriculture, technology, law, and beyond. Their unity under BIM reflects a shared commitment to driving development through excellence and collaboration.

Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan highlighted Malaysia’s impressive GDP growth of 5.1% in 2024, steady inflation at 2.4%, and a low unemployment rate. Foreign direct investment from global giants like Google, Microsoft, and ByteDance was noted as a vote of confidence in the country’s talent pool.
Acknowledging external challenges such as the reimposition of U.S. tariffs on Malaysian exports—affecting trade worth RM199 billion—he emphasized the government’s proactive approach through diversification, strategic partnerships, and industry support. An RM1.5 billion investment is being channeled into SMEs and high-growth sectors, including semiconductors and green tech.
“Even amid disruption, our sunrise sectors are thriving,” he said. “Malaysia does not retreat — we adapt.”

In his speech, the deputy minister positioned professionals not just as executors of policy but as innovators, mentors, and guardians of Malaysia’s future. He called on the professional community to:
-
Lead with Innovation—Advance in AI, biotechnology, sustainable design, and smart diagnostics.
-
Champion Dual Transformation—Merge digital and green strategies to reshape industries and infrastructure.
-
Mentor the Next Generation—Equip over 5 million future professionals with skills, values, and purpose.
Government bodies like the Public Works Department (JKR) were commended for adopting future-ready tools such as Building Information Modelling (BIM), geoBIM, and green certification through pH JKR.
The event celebrated BIM’s unique identity as a coalition of 22 professional bodies. Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan emphasized the need for cross-sectoral collaboration, stating:
“The future we’re building demands not silos, but symphonies.”
The evening also featured the BIM Professional Excellence Awards and the BIM Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing individuals who have made enduring contributions to Malaysia’s progress. In a powerful tribute, the deputy minister reminded the audience:
“When history remembers the hands that built this nation, it will remember yours.”

Concluding his address, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan urged Malaysia’s professionals to lead with pride, passion, and purpose:
“Let us not merely dream of a better tomorrow — let us design it, shape it, and lead it. Because the future of Malaysia isn’t found. It’s built. And it begins with us.”
The 52nd BIM Annual Dinner marked more than an evening of celebration—it was a reaffirmation of Malaysia’s belief in its professionals as the pulse of progress and the foundation of transformation.
