Whistleblower Exposes Brutality at Gaza Aid Sites: US Contractor Details Shocking Abuse by Israeli-Backed Group

GAZA, 24 July: A former U.S. security contractor has come forward with disturbing revelations about the conduct of American and Israeli personnel at humanitarian aid distribution sites in Gaza, shedding light on what he describes as the “systematic abuse” of desperate Palestinian civilians.

In an explosive interview broadcast on Israel’s Channel 12, the unnamed contractor—who previously worked with the Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF)—described routine violence, intimidation, and human rights violations committed under the pretext of aid delivery.

“In all my military service, I have never seen such use of force against unarmed civilians,” the former guard said. “I will not take part in it now.”

Among the most shocking incidents, the whistleblower recalled seeing a Palestinian woman collapse after being hit with a stun grenade thrown directly at her by GHF personnel. In another case, a man collecting food was pepper-sprayed at close range despite posing no threat.

He further alleged that American guards routinely opened fire to forcibly disperse civilians after aid drops, describing scenes where shots were fired into the ground and near crowds to intimidate them into leaving.

“The aid centers treated the population very badly and put them in danger,” he said, adding that the entire system was “beyond repair” and must be shut down.

The former contractor urged the international community to empower the United Nations to take over aid distribution in Gaza, arguing that the UN—with the proper resources—could deliver assistance far more effectively and humanely.

His claims align with growing concerns from humanitarian organizations and journalists about the militarization of aid operations in the besieged enclave, particularly those supported by Israeli authorities and U.S.-linked contractors.

Gaza’s Government Media Office responded swiftly, labeling the confessions as “irrefutable evidence” of the criminal and inhumane conduct of GHF and its foreign partners.

“This group hides behind the façade of humanitarianism while executing security and military agendas,” the office said in a statement. It accused GHF of operating under intelligence cover and violating the core principles of humanitarian law.

“It is a tool of extortion, an assault on dignity, and a blatant breach of international human rights,” the statement added.

Earlier this month, two other U.S. contractors working at GHF sites told the Associated Press—on condition of anonymity—that live ammunition, stun grenades, and pepper spray were commonly used against Palestinians scrambling for food.

One contractor revealed that bullets were often fired in all directions: “into the air, into the ground — and at times, directly at civilians.”

The UN Human Rights Office reported that as of 13 July, at least 875 people had been killed in Gaza while trying to access food—674 of them near GHF distribution points.

Between 27 May and 21 July, Israeli forces reportedly killed 1,054 Palestinians at or near food aid locations, underscoring the extreme danger faced by civilians simply attempting to survive.

The revelations have amplified global scrutiny of U.S.-backed aid initiatives in Gaza, many of which are now being criticized for failing to uphold basic humanitarian standards—and, in some cases, actively endangering the very people they claim to help.

As the humanitarian crisis in Gaza deepens, calls are growing louder for independent investigations, international oversight, and the complete demilitarization of aid delivery efforts in conflict zones.
