Malaysia Expresses Deep Condolences Over Tragic Fighter Jet Crash in Dhaka

PUTRAJAYA, 23 July : Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed profound sorrow over the devastating fighter jet crash that occurred in Dhaka, Bangladesh, which tragically claimed many lives—most of them schoolchildren—and left over a hundred others injured.

In an official statement, the Prime Minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the people of Bangladesh and shared the grief of families affected by the catastrophe. He highlighted the heroic actions of Maherin Chowdhury, a teacher who lost her life while bravely rescuing her students from the burning school.

“Her immense courage will not be forgotten,” he stated. “Maherin Chowdhury rushed her students to safety and then went back into the smoke and flames to save more. She is a true hero.”

Prime Minister Anwar also announced that he would be writing personally to Professor Muhammad Yunus, Bangladesh’s Nobel Peace Laureate, to express Malaysia’s solidarity during this time of national mourning.

“In this hour of grief, we stand with you,” Anwar said. “We mourn every life lost and every family devastated.”

The tragedy has sparked an outpouring of sympathy from across the region, and Malaysia has reaffirmed its commitment to stand by Bangladesh in moments of hardship and tragedy.
