The proposed MH370 search will be presented to the Cabinet in August
KUALA LUMPUR: According to transport minister Loke Siew Fook, the Cabinet is anticipated to hear a proposal for a fresh search for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 in August, which comes from US deep-sea survey company Ocean Infinity.
However according to Loke, the government needs to first draft a comprehensive proposal document, as reported by Berita Harian.
“We haven’t made any headway thus far because the Cabinet hasn’t seen (our own) proposal document,” he was cited as adding.
“We must first receive Ocean Infinity’s proposal document, which takes time.”
Ocean Infinity sent Loke a new search request on April 25 on a “no find, no fee” premise, according to a statement released by the Association for Families of the Passengers and Crew on Board MH370 last Saturday.
After that, Loke stated that Ocean Infinity had proposed starting a new search operation in November, pending Cabinet clearance.
On March 8, 2014, MH370, carrying 239 passengers, vanished while travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
