Israel Seeking to End Hostilities with Iran Amid Intensifying Cross-Border Strikes: Report

June 24—Tel Aviv— As military clashes between Israel and Iran escalate following the U.S. strike on Iranian nuclear facilities, a new report suggests that Israel is now exploring diplomatic avenues to end the conflict.

According to The Wall Street Journal, citing unnamed Israeli officials, Tel Aviv is actively seeking ways to bring the confrontation with Iran to a close, despite continuing to carry out strikes on Iranian targets.

The report comes amid a dangerous escalation in the Middle East, triggered by a devastating U.S. airstrike on three major Iranian nuclear sites late Saturday. In retaliation, Iran has intensified its missile attacks on key Israeli infrastructure, including military and government facilities.

Iran marked a dramatic change in its offensive capabilities when it launched its multidirectional and extremely destructive Khaibar ballistic missiles for the first time. On Monday alone, Iranian missiles struck multiple locations across Israel, expanding the scope and intensity of its response.

In retaliation, Israel has reportedly targeted Iranian prisons, military bases, and administrative centers, raising fears of further casualties and infrastructure damage.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a stern warning, saying the Israeli regime “has made a grave mistake” and that retaliation “will continue until peace is imposed.”

“The Israeli enemy has made a big miscalculation. They must now be taught a lesson — and the process has already begun,” Khamenei declared.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen have both issued direct warnings to Israel, vowing continued military pressure. There are growing fears that Iran may move to close the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global trade route, which could have severe economic consequences across the region.

As the stakes rise, Israeli leadership is reportedly seeking to de-escalate the situation to avoid long-term damage to its national security and economy. Sources familiar with the matter say back-channel diplomatic efforts are underway to prevent a full-scale war.

Middle East analysts caution that unless restraint is exercised, the region could be pulled into a broader and more destructive conflict involving multiple state and non-state actors.
