46th ASEAN Summit and the second ASEAN-GCC Summit are both taking place in Malaysia
Leaders from Southeast Asia and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have started coming to Malaysia for the second ASEAN-GCC Summit. The gathering will happen at the same time as the 46th ASEAN Summit, which will happen in Kuala Lumpur on May 26 and 27.
At 1:18 p.m., Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, who is the Secretary-General of the GCC, arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Before them came Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Philippines Ferdinand Martin Gomez Romualdez at 11:40 a.m. and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya at 10:30 a.m. Sheikh Khalifa Ali al Harthy, an undersecretary for political affairs at the Omani Foreign Ministry, arrived at 7:30 a.m. In October 2023, the first ASEAN-GCC Summit took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. At that meeting, leaders agreed to the ASEAN-GCC Framework of Cooperation (2024–2028), which was a major turning point in ties between the regions.

The GCC was created in 1981 to help Gulf countries work together on politics and business. It is made up of six countries: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The 46th ASEAN Summit will take place on May 26 and 27 in the capital city of this country. At the same time, the second ASEAN-GCC Summit and the first ASEAN-GCC-China Summit will take place. Malaysia is chairing ASEAN in 2025. This 2025 meeting, with the title “Inclusivity and Sustainability,” will be Malaysia’s fifth time as chair of ASEAN. They have done so before, in 1977, 1997, 2005, and 2015. Please draft a news article using the provided information.
