Celebrate Eid Al-Fitr, the end of Ramadan, around the world led by Saudi Arabia

Eid is a big event in the Islamic calendar because it marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan. Religious fervor and joy mark the occasion, with Saudi Arabia leading the global celebrations with Eid prayers on Sunday morning.

Muslims in Europe and the US joined Muslims in many Arab countries, such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait, in enjoying Eid Al-Fitr. Other countries, such as Oman, Jordan, Syria, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Australia, said the holiday would start on Monday.

Different moon sightings, which frequently alter the lunar Hijri schedule, determine when Ramadan ends. Ramadan is a month when Muslims around the world fast and think about their faith.

Eid Al-Fitr is an annual Islamic holiday that lasts for the first five days of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Hijri calendar. According to the Umm Al-Qura calendar, it began on Sunday with early morning Eid prayers, 15 minutes after sunrise.

In preparation for the Eid prayer, people gathered in mosques and prayer rooms set up before dawn in cities, governorates, and villages across the Kingdom.

At Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah, King Salman led prayers for Eid al-Fitr. At the event, several princes and high-level officials congratulated him on the joyful occasion of Eid, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman led prayers for Eid at the Grand Mosque in Makkah with other Muslims.

Thousands of Muslims packed the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah to pray for Eid al-Fitr. The mood was one of faith, joy, safety, and peace.

Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, who is the imam of the Grand Mosque, led the prayer and preached a sermon wishing everyone a joyful Eid Al-Fitr.

Many people, including Madinah Governor Prince Salman bin Sultan, prayed at the Prophet’s Mosque on Sunday morning for Eid al-Fitr. The imam of the mosque, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al-Buaijan, led the prayer and gave a lecture.

On the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud sent greetings from King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to ministry workers. He also thanked everyone in the security sector for their hard work and dedication.

Prince Khalid bin Salman, Minister of Defense, was at Al-Safa Palace in Makkah to meet with ministry commanders and top officials. Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Minister of the National Guard, was in Jeddah to meet with ministry commanders and top military and civilian officials. The ministers thanked the officials for their service to the country on behalf of the king and the crown prince.

It was reported that 122,286,712 people visited the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah during Ramadan. Ghazi Al-Shahrani is the CEO of the General Authority for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque.

Al-Shahrani said that 16,558,241 people did Umrah, 92,132,169 worshiped at the Grand Mosque, and 30,154,543 worshiped at the Prophet’s Mosque.

He wished King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman a joyful Eid Al-Fitr and thanked everyone who helped serve God’s guests.

After the Eid Al-Fitr prayer, people greeted each other to celebrate.

“The week-long celebration, with the end of the fasting month of Ramadan and the start of the Eid holidays, has ushered in the most festive celebration in the Islamic calendar,” said Riyadh resident Sara Aldossary to Arab News. “Families plan get-togethers and feasts, and people exchange greetings and gifts.”

“The start of Eid Al-Fitr in Saudi Arabia is a time of rich tradition and warm friendship.” There is a distinct atmosphere in the air as individuals rise to pray for Fajr and Eid. People extend cordial greetings to one another, adorn their residences with holiday decorations, dress their children in new attire, and meticulously prepare Eid gifts for their guests who are anticipating their arrival. The smell of traditional foods mixes with the smell of fragrant incense, and bright decorations make the space feel warm and friendly for guests on this special day, she said.

“We gather with family and friends to celebrate this most significant holiday.” Some of my friends are coming over to our house tonight for the party. Of course, we’ll be going to see them again the next day and every day during the vacation until the next weekend. “We exchange gifts and treats and greet one another. Additionally, some families select a picnic location and spend time together,” stated Bilal Ahmed, a resident of Jubail.

“Eid is a time to be happy, thankful, and with your family and friends.” Giving Eid gifts, or Eidiyah, to family and friends is a deeply felt way to show appreciation and love during Eid Al-Fitr, according to Riyadh local Alaa Alshammari.

There are a lot of civil and security plans in place so that everyone can enjoy the event safely.

Special decorations, such as “Eid Saeed” banners, adorn the capital’s main roads, welcoming passersby.

The Saudi General Entertainment Authority has announced a nationwide celebration that will include fireworks, concerts, plays, and many other fun things to do all over the Kingdom’s entertainment zones. The event will give both residents and tourists unforgettable Eid Al-Fitr experiences.

There will be musical performances in Riyadh, Shaqra, Abha, Qassim, Jeddah, and cities in the Eastern Region. In Riyadh (April 1–19), Jeddah (April 6–16), and Dammam (April 3–7), the main event will be a play.

At 9 p.m., fireworks will light up the sky in several important places, such as Boulevard World in Riyadh, the Jeddah Art Promenade, the Alkhobar Corniche, and Arruddaf Park in Taif.

On Day 1, Eid celebrations began in Riyadh at Boulevard City, Boulevard World, VIA Riyadh, and the Jeddah Art Promenade. On Day 2, City Hub in Alkhobar hosted the events, offering a wide range of fun activities for the whole family.

Big cities like Riyadh and Jeddah have lit up their streets with bright lights to commemorate the annual event.
