The Foreign Ministry in Tokyo said that on January 12, a group of Japanese government officials, led by Economy, Trade, and Industry Minister Yoji Muto and Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Hisashi Matsumoto, met with Saudi Arabian government officials to talk about Vision 2030.

Investment Minister Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih and Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan Al-Saud, head of the Saudi Esports Federation, were two Saudi officials who went to the Japan-Saudi Vision 2030 Ministerial Roundtable.

A statement from the ministry said that the officials talked about how the two countries have been working together and progressing since the 7th Ministerial Meeting of the Japan-Saudi Vision 2030 in December 2023.

Matsumoto said he was pleased with progress and encouraged more collaboration in sports, education, science, and culture.

He said that Japan was still committed to improving its relationship with Saudi Arabia in honor of this year’s 70th anniversary of the start of formal ties between the two countries.

The Japanese government thought that EXPO 2025 in Osaka, Kansai, would go well and that EXPO 2030 would go smoothly when it moved to Riyadh.
