“We came for a degree, not to go home with a stiff body,” stated a trainee from Universiti Teknologi Mara’s Reserve Officer Training Team (Palapes), who was also present at the event involving the deceased Muhammad Amir Rusyaidi Muhammad Zaidi.

He, who wished to remain anonymous, said that he and his teammates were grieving his demise, despite only having known Muhammad Amir Rusyaidi Muhammad Zaidi for about two months.

Because the training was not scheduled to begin (for this semester), it was conducted outside of the scheduled time. We received instructions to meet at approximately 3 p.m. on the day of the incident.

“We have previously trained on our own initiative, such as jogging, but outside of the scheduled time.

During their meeting yesterday, he informed Harian Metro, “But this time the coach called, so we just followed the instructions.”

During Palapes training, the late Muhammad Amir Rusyaidi passed away on November 13.

The police classified the Palapes cop’s death as sudden death (SDR) because of multiple organ failure and heat stroke.

The deceased’s family, who are hoping for an open and thorough investigation, claim that they left the person lying on the parade ground without help for roughly half an hour before rushing them to the hospital.

According to the deceased’s companion, he and a few other friends who were in the vicinity took the victim to a less bright place after he fainted.

According to him, the deceased was still a new student at Palapes, the weather was scorching on the day of the occurrence, and fainting incidents during training had previously occurred involving other trainees.

Since the deceased was still relatively new—I believe he had been participating in Palapes for more than a month—I initially thought he might have simply passed out because he couldn’t handle the training.

“We took him to a darker area at that moment, and I could feel his body going into a convulsion. After about 20 minutes like that, the coach took him to the hospital,” he said.

Every training session, he said, would typically have an ambulance and medical staff on hand to ensure nothing untoward occurred.

But on the day of the tragedy, he claimed, neither an ambulance nor a medical team was present at the parade ground.

He claimed that in order to aid in the inquiry, he and a number of other trainees had provided testimonies to the police and Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) about the incident.

“In my opinion, this should not have occurred, and I think that this situation might have been prevented if everyone had complied with the rules.

“However, given what has transpired, I hope the deceased person has the best outcome and that his family will remain resilient in the face of this charge.

“I hope the police will do their best to investigate this matter thoroughly,” he stated.
