ODENSE: Professional badminton player Lee Zii Jia has announced his withdrawal from the Denmark Open, which begins on Tuesday (Oct 15). The world No. 5, who was a finalist last year, is dealing with an ankle injury, as confirmed by the Badminton World Federation (BWF). He exacerbated the injury during his quarter-final match against Japan’s Koki Watanabe at the Arctic Open last week. Zii Jia was scheduled to face Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto in the first round in Odense; in his absence, eighth seed Anthony Ginting of Indonesia will take his place. Additionally, Malaysia’s mixed doubles team of Yap Roy King and Valeree Siow has also withdrawn. Notably, men’s doubles world champions Kang Min-hyuk and Seo Seung-jae from South Korea will also be missing from this World Tour 750 event.
