Parents demand return of 174 children connected to GISB case

PUTRAJAYA: A group of 96 individuals claiming to be the parents of 174 children linked to GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISB) is seeking to reunite with their children.

The group’s spokesman, Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, asserted that the children have been unlawfully detained, separated, and hidden from their families for more than a month. He described this situation as a violation of human rights, citing Articles 9 and 18 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Aziz further stated that some of the children had no involvement with GISB’s teachings and were merely volunteers for its subsidiaries, according to reports from Sinar Harian.

“Some parents and children have been unlawfully detained beyond the limits of the police investigation. Many have faced trauma and depression due to being forcibly held. Children with disabilities and autism, including breastfeeding infants, have been separated from their parents,” he said at a press conference on Sunday (Oct 13).

He raised concerns about the treatment of those allegedly unrelated to GISB, questioning their connection to claims of deviant teachings.

“Most of these children were not taken from locations linked to allegations of sodomy or fraud, but rather from nurseries, schools, hostels, tahfiz centres, and even foster homes,” he noted.
