Several routes in the capital to be gradually closed starting this Thursday

KUALA LUMPUR: Several routes around the capital will be closed to vehicles in phases on October 3 and from October 5 to 6 for the Petronas Le Tour De Langkawi and the Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon 2024.

According to Harian Metro, the Kuala Lumpur Chief of Police, Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa, stated that 535 officers and police personnel will be assigned to manage traffic throughout both events.

He mentioned that the city center of Kuala Lumpur will serve as the route for the fifth stage of Le Tour De Langkawi this Thursday.

The affected roads include the Sultan Ismail Intersection, Jalan Ampang, Jalan P Ramlee, Raja Muda Abdul Aziz Intersection, Jalan Tun Razak, Yahya Petra Intersection, Akleh Highway, Yap Kwan Seng, Jalan Ampang Hilir, Jalan Desa Pandan, and Jalan Jelatek.

“Releases will begin around 11 a.m. at the Petronas Twin Towers, Jalan Ampang.

“The police will implement full road closures in phases starting at 10 a.m. and will gradually reopen them,” he stated in a press release today.

For the international Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon 2024, which is expected to attract over 45,000 participants, Rusdi said that participant releases will take place by category from Saturday to Sunday.

He noted that the police will enforce full road closures in phases starting from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. this Saturday on the affected roads, including Jalan Kinabalu, Jalan Leboh Pasar, Jalan Leboh Ampang, Jalan Dato Onn, Jalan Kuching, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Laut, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Raja Abdullah, Jalan Perak, Jalan P Ramlee, Jalan Tugu, and Jalan Tun Ismail.

On Sunday, he stated, road closures will begin at 3 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Jalan Kinabalu, Jalan Kasturi, Jalan Leboh Pasar, Jalan Leboh Ampang, Jalan Tun Perak, Jalan Masjid India, Jalan Raja Abdullah, Jalan Dang Wangi, Jalan Melaka, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan P Ramlee, Jalan Raja Chulan, Jalan Nagasari, and Jalan Hang Tuah.

Other affected roads include Jalan Kampung Pandan, Jalan Imbi, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Delima, Jalan Inai, Jalan Conlay, Jalan Persiaran KLCC, Jalan Kia Peng, Jalan Pinang, Jalan Mayang, Jalan Jelatek, Jalan Kuching, Segambut Roundabout, Jalan Putra, and Jalan Tugu.
