KUALA LUMPUR: Yesterday, the non-governmental organization (NGO) JCI Bukit Bintang launched Accountability and Integrity Day (Hari A.I) to combat corruption within commercial organizations.

JCI Bukit Bintang President Eric Yeoh announced the launch of their new initiative, Hari A.I, a project aimed at fighting corruption and promoting ethical practices in business in Malaysia.

“With corruption being a major concern for Malaysians, affecting up to 51 percent of the population and increasing year by year, Hari A.I. comes at a crucial time.

“The event will feature a keynote presentation by Cheong Zhit Hou, Senior Assistant Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), who will emphasize the importance of accountability and integrity in commercial organizations,” he said at a press conference.

Eric mentioned that JCI Bukit Bintang has partnered with the MACC for this initiative.

He said this partnership demonstrates unity in combating corruption.

“The main goal of Hari A.I is to raise awareness and encourage more companies to incorporate anti-corruption measures into their policies.

“Corruption erodes trust and hinders economic growth,” he added.

Meanwhile, Eric said that through Hari A.I, businesses will be equipped with the knowledge and tools they need to foster a culture of integrity and transparency.

He noted that the event will provide practical insights into implementing anti-corruption measures, the benefits of ethical business practices, and the role of leadership in promoting organizational integrity.

“JCI Bukit Bintang invites businesses, organizations, and individuals to join this movement and be part of the solution.

“To get involved or learn more about Hari A.I, please contact the Secretary of JCI Bukit Bintang via email at secretary.jcibb@gmail.com,” he said.

JCI Bukit Bintang is a local branch of Junior Chamber International, dedicated to providing leadership development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change in their communities.

In addition, Cheong stated that every commercial organization needs to continually conduct checks and balances to prevent corruption and integrity breaches.

He advised that if any employees engage in wrongdoing, it is best to report it to higher authorities.

“Fighting corruption is crucial in ensuring that every industry maintains a high level of integrity among its workers,” he said.
