Small traders in Taman Titiwangsa appeal to DBKL to renew business licenses
KUALA LUMPUR: Small traders from Taman Tasik Titiwangsa (PPPKTT) are appealing to the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to renew their business licenses, which were revoked in May.
PPPKTT Chairman Ahmad Zamree Fauzi stated that the cancellation of licenses for vendors at Zone D of Taman Tasik Titiwangsa was deemed unjust.
He explained that this action has adversely affected the traders’ sources of income.
“Toy vendors have also had their licenses revoked immediately, while food and beverage vendors are being relocated to less popular areas outside of Taman Tasik Titiwangsa.
“Additionally, bicycle operators, according to the DBKL Licensing and Business Development Department, will be concentrated in a single area within Taman Tasik Titiwangsa,” he said during a press conference.
Zamree noted that the space allocated for bicycle operators is too small, leading to a cramped and congested environment.
He added that this has resulted in increased economic competition.
Meanwhile, Zamree mentioned that various efforts and actions have been taken by PPPKTT, such as sending appeal letters and protest memorandums to DBKL.
However, he stated that these matters seem to have received no special attention to date.
“We have not received any responses or considerations,” he said.
Additionally, Patron and Advisor of the Small Traders Association of Taman Tasik Titiwangsa (PPPKTT), Datuk Gulam Muszaffar Gulam Mustakim, said that the closure or cancellation of Zone D vendor sites will not stop the proliferation of unlicensed vendors, which is increasingly rampant.
He appealed to DBKL to renew the licenses and retain the business sites at Zone D.
