PM clarifies Pahang Palace filed report against Muhyiddin, denies political interference
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has clarified that the police report against Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Md Yassin was filed by the Pahang Palace, not by the government.
Anwar emphasized that he has not intervened in the investigation into Muhyiddin. “The report was filed by the Pahang Palace, and there’s no need for him to distort the facts. He is simply trying to play politics… The issue was raised by the Pahang Palace,” Anwar said during the Launch and Groundbreaking Ceremony of Residensi Suria Madani in Taman Desa.
On August 19, the Crown Prince of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, expressed his frustration over Muhyiddin’s actions, which were seen as undermining the role of the Sultan of Pahang during his tenure as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Muhyiddin, a former Prime Minister, faces charges in the Gua Musang Sessions Court for allegedly making seditious remarks during a campaign event for the Nenggiri state assembly by-election on August 14.
Anwar also cautioned all parties, including the opposition, against questioning the investigation under the Sedition Act, stressing that those who violate the law must face the consequences without using it for political purposes.
