KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that the government is committed to fulfilling its reform promises, even if it requires implementing difficult and unpopular measures.

He emphasized that this is crucial to ensure a better fiscal position, reduce the deficit, and ensure the sustainability of the country.

“I affirm that the government is exploring various methods to streamline business operations, capitalization, skilled workforce, and technology partnerships with neighboring countries.

“In addition, we are prepared to offer tax incentives to companies involved in high-impact activities,” he said on Facebook.

He made these comments after attending The Edge Billion Ringgit Club 2024 event last night.

He mentioned that his presence was to celebrate global corporate players who have achieved significant success and contributed to economic growth.

At the event, Anwar also urged the corporate sector to seize the opportunity as Malaysia chairs ASEAN next year to highlight the bloc as a global investment and trade hub.

He noted that the government’s decision to join BRICS also allows Malaysia to explore new markets and enhance investment and trade opportunities, particularly in the palm oil, rubber, and electronics sectors.

“I also assure a more efficient, decisive, and transparent public service, in addition to reducing incidents of fraud and corruption among public officials, thus creating a better ecosystem for the business community,” he said.

Anwar further urged the corporate sector to join the government in the fight against corruption, which undermines ethics, values, culture, society, and economic growth.

“Let us not forget the tragic story of the great Roman Empire that fell due to corruption.

“This is the time for the private sector to work with the government to elevate the status and dignity of the people and future generations, ensuring that every citizen in this country can enjoy a dignified life,” he said.
