Tunku Azizah reveals Siti Nurhaliza’s near-death experience during childbirth

KUALA LUMPUR: Tunku Ampuan Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah recently disclosed that Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza faced life-threatening complications during childbirth. Speaking at the launch of Alhaya Fertility Centre at Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 in Petaling Jaya, where she was the guest of honour, Tunku Azizah shared how Siti’s challenging journey to motherhood was marked by near-tragic events.

Siti, who was present at the event, had struggled with conception before finally giving birth to her daughter, Siti Aafiyah. Tunku Azizah revealed that the 45-year-old singer nearly lost her life due to complications during delivery.

Siti, who had not previously discussed this ordeal publicly, expressed gratitude for the second chance she was given. “Tunku Azizah was one of the few people who knew about this difficult experience,” Siti said.

Like Tunku Azizah, Siti faced conception challenges and chose in vitro fertilisation. After her firstborn Siti Aafiyah, she used the same treatment to have her second child, Muhammad Afwa, in April 2021. Siti married Datuk Seri Khalid Mohamad Jiwa on August 21, 2006.
