PUTRAJAYA: If proven guilty under the Road Transport Act 2010 (Act 715), the operator of the tour bus involved in the accident at Kilometre 16.5 of Jalan Genting Highlands on Saturday faces licence suspension or revocation.

In a statement released yesterday, the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) stated that investigations had shown the tour bus’s licence was issued by M. Kumar Trans Tour Sdn. Bhd. This indicates that APAD is working with pertinent organisations to acquire a thorough report.

It stated that in response to the occurrence, the agency has sent the company a show-cause letter.

“APAD would take stern action including suspension and revocation of its licence under Section 415 (of the Road Transport Act) if investigations and reports revealed any violations of the service licence by the company,” the statement stated, emphasising that the agency would not compromise offences involving reckless driving that results in accidents.

It is thought that the tour bus swerved off course, collided with a road barrier, and flipped en route to the capital city, resulting in the deaths of two male Chinese nationals and the rescue of nineteen others at 11 a.m.

The 32-year-old bus driver reportedly had 27 prior traffic summonses for a variety of infractions, but he did not possess a driver’s licence, according to Bentong district police head Supt Zaiham Mohd Kahar. – Bernama
