KUALA LUMPUR: The government will reopen the Main Database System (PADU) registration system under the second phase.

According to Berita Harian, Minister of Economy, Rafizi Ramli said, it is to enable any individual who has not registered to be able to update their information according to the period that will be set.

“The government asks all parties to cooperate in raising people’s awareness of the importance of using PADU data.

“In the future, PADU data will be the main reference in the formation of government intervention programs and the identification of aid recipient groups,” he said in an oral answer in the Dewan Rakyat.

Rafizi answered a question from Datuk Anyi Ngau (GPS-Baram) regarding the latest position regarding the PADU system in Sarawak and steps to be taken so that the people in Sarawak, especially the B40 group, are not excluded from the objectives of the PADU system.

Answering the question, Rafizi said that until the end of the PADU phase one registration period last March, a total of 10,544,016 million individuals had updated their information in the system.

“Of the total, a total of 1,071,796 million people in Sarawak have updated their information in PADU,” he said.

The Sarawak government previously decided to postpone the registration of PADU in the state.

Commenting further, Rafizi said that the government’s goal through the use of PADU is to improve the efficiency of policy planning and resource distribution, especially the retargeting of subsidies and government assistance.

“The government is committed to ensuring the well-being of the people is achieved in line with the targets of the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK12), to make Malaysia a sustainable, prosperous and high-income country,” he said.
