Genting Highlands bus driver tour has no licence and has 27 traffic violations, say cops
KUALA LUMPUR: The driver of the tour bus that crashed on its way down from Genting Highlands at around 11 a.m. on Saturday (June 29), killing two Chinese tourists, does not have a driver’s licence and has a history of traffic violations.
According to Bentong police head Supt Zaiham Mohd Kahar, a subsequent check into the 32-year-old bus driver discovered that he had 27 previous traffic summonses for various offences.
According to Zaiham, the two male victims who died at the site were Zhang Ping (58) and Wang Shuhong (49).
He stated that the accident involved 18 international tourists, the bus driver, an assistant, and a tourist guide.
“The bodies of the two victims were taken to Bentong Hospital, along with six injured victims, while 13 other injured victims were taken to Kuala Lumpur Hospital,” he stated on Thursday, June 27, 2017.
Earlier, Bernama claimed that two Chinese nationals died when their tour bus slipped and collided with a road barrier at KM 16.5 on Jalan Turun Genting Highlands, Pahang, on its way to the capital. — Bernama
