Two Chinese nationals died in accident in a Genting Highlands bus, while 19 survived

KUALA LUMPUR: Two Chinese nationals were killed when a tour bus carrying 21 people capsized on Saturday morning as it was leaving Genting Highlands.

The tragedy occurred at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, and rescue efforts are presently underway, according to the Bentong Fire and Rescue Department.

According to Datuk Dr Wan Mohamad Zaidi Wan Isa, director of the Pahang Fire and Rescue Department, both of the male casualties had head injuries.

When approached, he stated, “Their bodies were sent to Bentong Hospital, Pahang.”

It is understood that of the twenty-one passengers, three of whom are the driver, the remaining eleven are Chinese nationals, seven of whom are women and the other eleven are men.

A 21-second video that showed the accident’s aftermath and multiple emergency personnel on the scene had previously gone viral.

According to a statement from Genting Malaysia Berhad, the third-party operator’s bus was transporting eighteen tourists from Yunnan, China, who were making their way down from Genting Highlands.

“Our deepest condolences go out to the families and friends of the deceased. We wish a swift and full recovery to those injured.

“We will provide further updates as more information becomes available,” read the statement.
