KUALA LUMPUR: Junaidah Shaari, often known as Miss June, 73, the mother of well-known singer Wann Rashidah, passed away Friday at 4:46 p.m. in Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL).
Wann, who is currently a resident of Singapore, expressed gratitude to Harian Metro for enabling her and her younger sister Wan Intan Suraiya to return from the Lion City and be by their mother’s side when she passed away.
“Thank God my sister and I are together here. We had time to visit my mother in the hospital,” she remarked in passing.
Wan Samirah Meor Abdul Rashid, the singer’s younger sister, revealed that her late mother had stage four liver cancer for a considerable amount of time.
“It’s accurate to say that the doctor predicted my mother wouldn’t live for very long. The last time I gave my mother a massage was last night.”Mother’s remains will be returned to the PPR Sri Aman surau in Jinjang, where they will be interred in the Batu Lima Islamic Cemetery on Jalan Ipoh (behind the Sungai Mas shopping complex) at 11 a.m., according to her statement.
The most significant individual in Wann’s life was the late Miss June, who served as her manager and witnessed her rise to fame at that period.
Wann was not the only kid of the mother; Wan Salmiah or Hawa and Wan Samirah or Wann Kecik also made records.
Meor Abdul Rashid, Miss June’s spouse, and their seven kids are left behind.
