Melaka State Election: PKR Fields 77.8 Per Cent New Faces – Fuziah
MELAKA: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) has unveiled a lineup of candidates reflecting leadership renewal as it prepares for the upcoming Melaka State Election.
Its Secretary-General, Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh, said the party is fielding nine candidates in this election, seven of whom, or 77.8 per cent, are new faces, while four are young candidates.
She said the party is also fielding three women candidates, representing 33.3 per cent of its total lineup.
“Since the announcement of the candidates, I have visited eight main operations centres for the State Legislative Assembly constituencies to assess preparations, meet campaign workers and help coordinate election machinery operations.
“These visits will continue until tomorrow to ensure that preparations at the constituency level are progressing smoothly,” she said in a social media post today.
Fuziah said political renewal was not merely about introducing new faces but also about creating opportunities for the younger generation and women to play a greater role in leadership and represent the aspirations of the people.
Last Saturday, Prime Minister and Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the coalition would contest 21 seats in next month’s Melaka State Election.
Of the total, PKR will contest nine seats, while DAP will field candidates in seven constituencies and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) in five.
Among the new faces introduced by PKR are Mohd Yunazri Mustamiri for the Tanjung Bidara State Legislative Assembly seat, Mohd Khuzairie Mohd Kamal Kannan (Rembia), Denesh A/L Palasubraniam (Asahan), Datuk Azman Abidin (Paya Rumput), Muhammad Hakimin Mokhtar (Ayer Molek), Esma Eazreen Husin (Rim) and Muhammad Faiq Azman (Serkam).
Meanwhile, the women candidates include former Machap Jaya State Assemblywoman Datuk Ginie Lim Siew Lin and Farzana Hayani Mohd Nasir (Kelebang), who previously contested the Sungai Rambai seat in the 2021 Melaka State Election.
