Zayn Rayyan’s grandparents were arrested by the police
PETALING JAYA: The grandparents of an autistic child, Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, who was found murdered, were arrested by the police this afternoon.
According to FMT, Selangor Police Chief Hussein Omar Khan said that the couple was arrested at 2.30 this afternoon, but he did not reveal where they were arrested.
Hussein said their arrest was to help the investigation into Zayn’s murder.
The couple was arrested by members of the Serious Crime (D9) IPK Selangor
Zayn was reported missing on Dec 5 in Damansara Damai, before being found dead near a creek, about 200m from his home block in Apartment Idaman, the next day.
The victim’s body was found by a group of residents who carried out a search operation. The results of the autopsy found injuries to the neck and body as a result of self-defense.
On June 1, the police remanded Zayn’s parents, Ismanira Abdul Manaf and Zaim Ikhwan Zahari and to assist in the investigation of the case according to Section 302 of the Penal Code.
Earlier, Ismanira was brought to the Magistrate’s Court this morning, but according to her lawyer, she pleaded not guilty to murder.
Mahmud Jumaat said the police brought Ismanira to court to record a certain ‘confession’ according to Section 26(1) of the Evidence Act.
