Personal Data Leak: Khairul Aming Files Four Reports, Sends LOD To Maxis

SHAH ALAM: Entrepreneur and influencer, Khairul Aming, has taken legal action following allegations of a personal data leak, by filing four reports with the authorities and sending a Letter of Demand (LOD) to a telecommunications company.

Through a post on the Threads platform on Wednesday, he informed that his lawyer had sent the LOD to Maxis, in addition to making an official report to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

Khairul Aming said a police report was also made at the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters (IPD) to enable investigations to be conducted against the individual believed to be involved.

According to him, a report regarding the alleged personal data leak was also submitted to the Personal Data Protection Department (JPDP).

Previously, Khairul Aming had questioned how information regarding his personal telephone bill could be known by other parties to the extent that it was disclosed publicly on social media.

Through a post on the Threads platform, he requested an explanation from the telecommunications company regarding the alleged leak of his personal telephone bill information which was linked to a social media user.

Sinar Harian previously also reported that Maxis has identified the individual linked to the incident of unauthorised access to a customer’s account details that went viral on social media since Monday.

The telecommunications company, in a statement, said immediate action was being taken against the individual concerned.

Elaborating further, Khairul Aming said the case would be fully handled by his legal team until its conclusion.

“My lawyers will take over this case until it is resolved. Honestly, I feel sad and horrified because it is that easy for one’s privacy to be lost.

“Phone details, payment history, subscription records, right up to the identity card number that can access MySara, all are leaked,” he said.
