The government allocated an additional RM200 million for TVET, says PM
BANTING: The government has agreed to provide an additional allocation worth RM200 million to strengthen the field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), said the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Berita Harian reported, he said the additional allocation will be channeled through the National Skills Fund Corporation, in addition to the National TVET Council being responsible for determining its priority areas.
Among other things, he agreed to create more TVET segments, especially for the Orang Asli community and the original people in Sabah and Sarawak, besides describing the matter as being in line with the Madani concept.
Anwar, who is also the Minister of Finance, said this when he officiated the National TVET Day Celebration at the Kuala Langat Industrial Training Institute here, today.
Also present were the Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National TVET Council, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi; Defense Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin; Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir and Minister of Human Resources, Steven Sim Chee Keong.
