PM believes targeted subsidies will save the country

PUTRAJAYA: Citing the need to preserve the nation, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has justified the government’s choice to enact targeted subsidies.

He claimed that in order to achieve that advantage, the administration was compelled to make a number of difficult decisions.

“Who wishes to put targeted subsidies into effect? We have to acknowledge that no matter what we do, falsehoods and charges of all kinds will be thrown at us.Prior to this, every prime minister had committed to introducing targeted subsidies, but there had been insufficient political will to carry it out.

Anwar stated, “This is done to save the country, we are left with no choice,” on Monday, June 10, at the Prime Minister’s Department monthly meeting at Dewan De’ Seri Endon, Puspanitapuri.
