SEREMBAN: A special officer to Negri Sembilan Executive Council member Nicole Tan has lodged a police report after a Facebook post accused the state tourism, arts and culture committee chairman of misappropriating RM180,000 in state funds.

The report was filed by Ng Wai Yee, who said she discovered the post at about 4pm on Monday (July 6) on a Facebook page identified as “Reformati Studio Albert Tei”.

According to Ng, the post featured a poster titled “Himpunan Tangkap 2 Pencuri” (“Gathering to Catch Two Thieves”), displaying photographs of caretaker Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun and Nicole Tan, who were labelled as “Thief 1” and “Thief 2.”

The poster also alleged abuse of power, fraud, and the misappropriation of RM180,000 in public funds while inviting members of the public to participate in a rally demanding action against the two leaders.

Ng rejected the allegations, describing them as false, defamatory, and without factual basis.

She explained that the RM180,000 allocation was approved and disbursed before the dissolution of the state legislative assembly for programmes benefiting the public and was processed in full compliance with government financial regulations.

According to Ng, every disbursement was supported by complete documentation, official records, and expenditure reports, with all payments made through lawful procedures and subject to review by the relevant authorities.

“There was no element of misappropriation, abuse of power or fraud in the management of the funds,” she said.

Ng urged police to conduct a thorough investigation, arguing that the allegations appeared intended to incite public hostility against Aminuddin and Tan while undermining public confidence in them.

Also present when the report was lodged was Tan’s lawyer, N. Sritharan, who said legal action would be taken against those responsible for publishing the allegedly defamatory statements.

“We have been instructed to issue a letter of demand against the individuals responsible for making and circulating these reckless and defamatory allegations,” Sritharan said.

The latest development follows a complaint lodged on July 3 by businessman Albert Tei, who called on the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate Aminuddin over the same RM180,000 matter.

Tei had also stated that the MACC should open an investigation within three days, failing which he intended to organise a protest outside the commission’s Negri Sembilan office.

At the time of reporting, authorities had not confirmed whether the Facebook account cited in Ng’s police report was operated by Tei.

Police are expected to investigate the complaint, while legal proceedings over the alleged defamatory publication are also being pursued.
