KUALA LUMPUR: The Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, has expressed concern over military training activities in the state’s island areas, warning that such exercises could threaten the local ecosystem, flora and fauna.

In a statement shared on the official Facebook page of the Pahang Sultanate on Sunday, the Crown Prince said he is closely monitoring military activities planned by the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), particularly those involving island regions in Pahang.

While acknowledging the importance of military exercises in enhancing the skills and experience of officers and personnel, Tengku Hassanal stressed that all such activities must be carried out responsibly and in harmony with the environment.

“Military activities must be conducted in a controlled, responsible and safe manner that remains harmonious with nature and all parties involved,” the statement said.

The Crown Prince also decreed that the Malaysian Armed Forces and all related departments or agencies must first seek the consent of the Sultan of Pahang before carrying out any military training or exercises within the state.

According to the statement, all parties are required to comply fully with the royal decree.

Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah further warned that he would not hesitate to request the Pahang state government to take appropriate action if any violations of procedures or royal instructions occur.

The statement reflects growing concern over balancing national security activities with environmental preservation in sensitive areas across Pahang.
