SEPANG, Jan 28: Three men suspected of being part of the notorious “Captain Praba Gang” were charged at the Sessions Court here on Wednesday with involvement in organized criminal activities.

The accused, C. Navindren Raj, 38; S. Sridharan, 30; and S. Pratifkumar, 30, were arrested under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA) upon their arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport earlier the same day.

The charges were read out in Tamil before Judge Ahmad Fuad Othman, though no pleas were recorded, as cases involving organized crime fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

According to the charge sheet, the trio is alleged to have been members of an organized crime group operating in Jenjarom, Kuala Langat, between December 2023 and September 2025. They were charged under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment upon conviction.

The court denied bail to all three accused and ordered the case to be transferred to the Shah Alam High Court for mention.

Police identified the men as key suspects in “Ops Jack Sparrow,” a large-scale multi-state operation launched on September 11 to dismantle the criminal gang. The group, believed to have 33 members, is allegedly led by an individual known as Captain Praba.

The suspects were first apprehended in Mumbai, India, on Sunday (Jan 25) before being repatriated to Malaysia on Wednesday morning.

Authorities believe the gang is linked to a series of violent crimes, including murder, armed assault, gang robbery, and arson, prompting intensified enforcement action by law enforcement agencies.
