Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Discharged After Successful Knee Surgery, Thanks Nation for Prayers

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Jan 21: His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, was discharged from Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) on Wednesday following a successful right total knee replacement surgery.

The procedure was carried out on Sunday, Jan 18, and His Majesty’s recovery has progressed well, allowing him to leave the hospital under medical advice.

The monarch was accompanied by Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Mohamed Alam, as well as members of the royal family. Prior to his departure, a doa selamat was recited by the State Mufti, Datuk Paduka Seri Setia Dr. Ustaz Awang Abdul Aziz Juned.

Cabinet ministers and deputy ministers were also present to bid farewell to the ruler.

In a message conveyed upon his discharge, Sultan Hassanal expressed his deepest gratitude to the people and residents of Brunei Darussalam, both within the country and abroad, including students and members of the international community, for their prayers and well-wishes for his swift recovery, continued good health, and lasting well-being.

His Majesty also extended sincere appreciation to heads of state and government, as well as members of royal families, for their messages of goodwill during the period of his treatment.

The Sultan further thanked the medical specialists, officers, and staff of Jerudong Park Medical Centre for the excellent care and professional treatment provided throughout his stay, praising their dedication and expertise.
