Eight sets of fingerprints were taken from Faisal Halim’s incident location, according to the IGP
KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Razarudin Husain reports that the forensic section at Bukit Aman found eight sets of fingerprints at the location where national football player Faisal Halim was doused with acid.
Three of the fingerprints were whole prints, according to the Inspector-General of Police, while five of the prints were partial prints. “But the whole prints did not match anything in the police database. When contacted on Tuesday (May 21), he stated, “It might be because the individual involved has never been arrested and did not have any prior criminal record.”
According to the IGP, the suspect’s photofit has already been released by the police, and they are pleading with anyone who recognises him to come forward as soon as possible.
“The suspect is 165 cm tall, medium build, and in his 30s.
“Members of the public who recognise the man or have information on the individual pictured in the photofit are urged to contact Special Investigation Unit (USJT) investigating officer Insp Jagachandran Murugesen at 012-6848166 or their nearest police station to assist in tracking down the suspect,” said the officer.
On May 5, at a Kota Damansara shopping centre, Faisal, popularly known as ‘Mickey’, had an acid attack.
The attack’s motivation is still unclear. His Harimau Malaya teammate Akhyar Rashid was robbed last week in Kuala Terengganu and sustained scrapes and bruises, just days before the attack. In Johor Baru, on the evening of May 7, Safiq Rahim, the former national captain, managed to avoid injury after two individuals damaged his rear windscreen. The 36-year-old, who plays for Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), the winners of the Super League, disclosed the incident on social media by sharing a police report. Since then, on May 19, police have released out a photofit of the suspect.
