Man charged with obstructing cop at Dato’ Keramat Police Station
KUALA LUMPUR: At the George Town magistrates’ court, a 35-year-old parking attendant was accused of impeding the sentry’s duty at the Dato’ Keramat police station in Penang. The accused, whose name was only revealed as Supramaniam, was taken into custody at the Dato’ Keramat police station on Sunday after it was reported that, at approximately 4:45 a.m., he “drunkenly trespassed” into the building and attempted to take a police officer’s gun. As reported by Bernama, Supramaniam requested a trial in relation to the charge under Section 186 of the Penal Code following its reading in front of magistrate Nadratul Naim Saidi. Nadratul scheduled the case mention for June 20 and set bail at RM5,000 with one surety. Ranjit Singh Sandhu, Supramaniam’s attorney, had requested a less bond sum, citing the fact that his client was merely a parking attendant.
