IPOH, Malaysia: The National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) has arrested 1,078 individuals during a three-day nationwide Special Prevention Operation (Ops Cegah Khas) that began last Monday, authorities confirmed.

Deputy Director-General (Operations) of AADK, Zainudin Abdullah, said Perak recorded the highest number of arrests in the Kinta district with 164 individuals, followed by Larut, Matang, and Selama with 55 individuals, and Hulu Perak with 48 individuals.

During operations in Kinta, AADK raided several drug hotspots in Chemor, Tambun, Bercham, and Menglembu. Among those arrested was a 58-year-old woman, a current AADK client under supervision in the Kinta district, while her 65-year-old husband has a prior police record.

“Both the husband and wife are unemployed, and their source of funds to purchase drugs comes from their children,” Zainudin revealed during a press conference at the Ministry of Home Affairs Complex in Meru Raya, Ipoh, today.

The operation highlights AADK’s ongoing efforts to curb drug abuse and dismantle local drug networks across Malaysia.
