Putrajaya, Oct 5: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that a special gathering will be held to celebrate the return of Malaysian activists who were recently released in Türkiye after being detained by Israeli forces.

During a video call with the activists in Istanbul on Sunday, Anwar expressed his pride in their courage and commitment to humanitarian causes.

“They are all in good health, and their spirits remain high. I express my deep appreciation for their courage, perseverance, and sacrifice in defending the rights of the oppressed people of Gaza,” Anwar said.

“They are a symbol of Malaysian bravery in upholding human values that transcend borders. I look forward to welcoming them back to Kuala Lumpur soon,” he added in a post shared on his official Facebook page.

The activists were among those aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla, a humanitarian mission to Gaza, who were kidnapped and detained by the Zionist regime on October 2. They were later released and have since been in Türkiye under the care of local authorities.

The Malaysian government earlier condemned Israel’s actions and called for the immediate and unconditional release of all flotilla participants.

Anwar’s announcement of a special welcoming event underscores Malaysia’s ongoing solidarity with the Palestinian cause and its support for citizens who champion humanitarian missions.
