Elderly Woman’s Body, Motorcycle Found in Ditch in Selama

IPOH, Sept 30: Police discovered the body of an elderly woman alongside a motorcycle in a roadside ditch at Kampung Tanjung Lengkong, Rantau Panjang, Selama, on Tuesday morning.

Selama district police chief Supt Sarudin Samah said the discovery was made after an excavator operator working in the area alerted authorities around 11.45am.

“The complainant was carrying out cleaning work along the road shoulder when he noticed a motorcycle in the ditch. Upon closer inspection, a decomposed body was also found nearby,” he said in a statement.

Initial checks of the motorcycle registration revealed it belonged to an elderly woman who had been reported missing on September 8. However, Supt Sarudin said police are still awaiting confirmation from forensic experts to verify the identity of the body.

He added that a post-mortem examination would be carried out at Selama Hospital’s forensic unit on Wednesday to determine the cause of death.

At this stage, police are treating the case as a sudden death.
