KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13 (VoM): Police have launched an investigation after two Members of Parliament reported receiving blackmail emails threatening to release doctored sex videos.

Subang MP Wong Chen lodged a police report after receiving an email from an unknown sender claiming to possess an indecent video allegedly showing him with another man.

Subang Jaya District Police Chief ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat confirmed the report, stating that investigations are ongoing to trace the email sender.

“The case is being investigated under Section 385 of the Penal Code for extortion and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998,” he said in a statement today.

Earlier, Pandan MP Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli revealed he had received a similar blackmail email demanding US$100,000 (RM470,000) to prevent the release of a video.

Rafizi said the screenshots attached to the email showed his face edited onto a man’s body in a blurry room setting. He dismissed the material as slander created using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

“I also received a message from Wong Chen informing me that he too had been threatened with a similar fake video,” Rafizi disclosed.

Both MPs condemned the threats, describing them as attempts to intimidate and discredit elected representatives through AI-generated disinformation.
