1,600 KL SPM Candidates Receive Academic Guidance Through Better SPM Brighter Future Programme

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 1,600 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates from 40 secondary schools in the capital received focused academic guidance through the ‘Better SPM, Brighter Future’ 2026 Tuition Programme.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), Hannah Yeoh, said the programme, organised by the Federal Territories Foundation (YWP) in collaboration with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Education Department (JPWPKL), aims to help students prepare for their trial examinations and the SPM.

She said TNB channeled a contribution of RM276,200 to YWP for the implementation of the programme, which is coordinated together with JPWPKL.

“With this contribution from TNB, we want to ensure that students enter the examination hall with better preparation, thereby reducing the financial burden on parents.

“A total of 1,600 families benefit from the support of the private sector such as TNB,” she said after officiating the ‘Better SPM, Brighter Future’ 2026 Tuition Programme at the Malaysian Arts School Kuala Lumpur here today.

Also present were YWP Chief Executive Officer, Dr Abdul Basir V Kunhimohamed, and TNB Chief Global Business Solutions Officer, Datuk Azmi Md Yusof.

Hannah said the programme participants were selected by JPWPKL together with the schools, with priority given to students from B40 families.

The programme is implemented at the respective schools, encompassing additional classes, question-answering technique seminars, motivational programmes, and focused academic guidance, and is expected to be completed by the end of August before the SPM trial examinations begin.

“This programme focuses on four core subjects, namely Bahasa Melayu, English, History, and Mathematics.

“Students not only attend additional classes, but are also exposed to question-answering techniques that can boost their confidence when in the examination hall.

“We want to ensure that students who are willing to work hard are given sufficient support, guidance, and opportunities so that they are not left behind merely due to constraints beyond their control,” she said.
