According to JIM’s Director of Enforcement, Basri Othman, a total of 82 officers were deployed to the two locations. They inspected 719 individuals, comprising 534 foreigners and 185 local citizens.

“Following thorough inspections, 121 undocumented migrants were arrested for various immigration offences, including overstaying and failure to produce valid travel documents,” said Basri at a press conference held after the operation.

The arrested individuals include citizens of Indonesia, Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Syria, and Sudan. Among them were 121 men and 12 women.

During the raid in Sungai Tangkas, some undocumented individuals managed to flee the scene. Basri assured that follow-up action is underway to locate and apprehend those who escaped.

Several food courts and business premises in Kajang were among the areas inspected. Immigration officers found undocumented foreigners working illegally in roles such as cooks and cashiers.

Basri also issued a warning to employers and foreign nationals not to be deceived by unauthorized agents falsely claiming that the Labour Recalibration Programme is still active.“To be clear, JIM is only implementing the Recalibration for Return Programme, which allows overstaying migrants to voluntarily return to their home countries,” he stressed.

All detainees have been transported to the Immigration Detention Depot for further investigation and legal processing.

Basri reaffirmed that enforcement activities will continue nationwide in an effort to detect, arrest, charge, and deport foreign nationals who violate immigration laws. These operations are carried out under the Immigration Act 1959/63, Passport Act 1966, Immigration Regulations 1963, and the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007.
