Zayn Rayyan’s grandparents may be released today

PETALING JAYA: The grandparents of the autistic child, Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, who was killed on December 6, who were detained yesterday may be released this morning.

According to Berita Harian, lawyer Fahmi Abd Moin, who represents the couple, said the police made an arrest at their home in Subang Bestari, after returning from the Petaling Jaya Court Complex, last night.

“Zayn Rayyan’s grandparents will be brought to court this morning and will be released on police bail.

“I was informed that both of them were arrested in Subang Bestari after returning from court and taken to the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD). I then went to IPD after the arrest was announced.

“I was informed that they were detained to assist the investigation in accordance with Section 302 of the Torture Code,” he said at a media session at the Petaling Jaya Court Complex here today.

Yesterday, the husband and wife were arrested by D9 members of the Selangor Police Headquarters at 2.30pm.

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan authorized their arrest to assist in the investigation into the murder of Zayn Rayyan.

Previously, the police vehicle carrying Zayn Rayyan’s grandparents arrived at the court complex at 9.12am accompanied by a police force.
