PUTRAJAYA: All members of the Cabinet are being warned to ensure that during the by-election period (PRK) there is no violation of election laws or regulations, said unity government spokesperson Fahmi Fadzil.

According to FMT, the Minister of Communications said that the reminder was given by Anwar during today’s Council of Ministers meeting.

Fahmi said, however, the meeting did not specifically discuss the call of a democracy supporter, Thomas Fann, for guidelines to be introduced for parties in government regarding the announcement of allocations ahead of the election.

“We did not discuss this specifically.

“But the prime minister has warned all members of the Council of Ministers to ensure that during this by-election period. So the reminder has been given by the prime minister,” he said at a press conference at the Ministry of Communications.

Yesterday, Fann who is also the former chairman of Bersih made the call in response to the announcement by Minister of Housing and Local Government Nga Kor Ming in Nibong Tebal, regarding the allocation of RM18 million for various projects in Seberang Perai Selatan, Penang, under the Sentuhan Kasih program.

Seberang Perai Selatan also includes Sungai Bakap state assembly, which is scheduled to hold a by-election on July 6.
