In response to the appeals made during the Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit in Riyadh, the United Nations expressed its unwavering support for initiatives aimed at establishing a ceasefire in Palestine, Lebanon, and all conflict zones in the Middle East.
King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, called the summit, and His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, presided over it.
UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric informed the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that the world organization persists in endorsing all initiatives aimed at de-escalating the situation in the region, including the attainment of a truce in Gaza and Lebanon, as well as the unconditional release of all hostages in Gaza.
He noted that UN Secretary-General António Guterres persists in underscoring the necessity of terminating the Israeli occupation and executing the two-state solution, regarded as a just and enduring resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
