Two Tahfiz Students Charged With Injuring Schoolmate Using Iron

PARIT: Two male students from a maahad tahfiz were brought before the Parit Magistrate’s Court today on a charge of causing injury to a fellow student using an iron last week.

The two accused, aged 13 and 14, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to them before Magistrate Nurul Izalina Rajaai in proceedings held behind closed doors.

According to the charge, they are accused of jointly and intentionally causing injury to a 13-year-old boy using a weapon or instrument capable of causing injury, namely an iron.

The offence was allegedly committed at a Quranic maahad tahfiz in the Perak Tengah district at about 4pm on Sept 19, 2026.

The charge was framed under Section 324 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same code, which provides for imprisonment of up to 10 years, a fine, whipping, or any two of those punishments upon conviction.

The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor R. Jayasri, while both accused were represented by National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK) lawyer Nur Nadrah Badarudin.

The court allowed both accused bail of RM500 each and fixed Oct 27 for the case to be mentioned again.

It is understood that the two students were arrested following a police report lodged by a doctor last Monday, who reported having treated the victim for second-degree burns to his chest.

Based on the victim’s account, his two schoolmates allegedly pressed a hot iron against his chest, causing the injuries.
