Melaka State Election: EC to Hold Special Meeting on Oct 7 to Determine Election Dates

KUALA LUMPUR: The Election Commission (EC) will hold a special meeting on Oct 7 to discuss matters related to the 16th Melaka State Election following the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly.

EC Secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus said in a statement today that the special meeting would be chaired by EC Chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun.

He said the meeting would discuss key dates for the Melaka State Election, including the issuance of the election writ, Nomination Day and Polling Day.

“The special meeting will also discuss the electoral roll to be used as well as other preparations for the conduct of the election,” he said.

He added that a press conference would be held immediately after the special meeting.

The Melaka State Legislative Assembly was dissolved effective Sept 23 to pave the way for the 16th state election.

The assembly has 28 seats, with the current state government’s mandate set to expire on Dec 31 if it had not been dissolved earlier.
